Myrtle Beach Golf Wins 2006 Web Award
The Myrtle Beach National Company website, www.MBN.com, was recently awarded the prestigious Standard of Excellence Web award in the 2006 WebAwards competition, sponsored by Web Marketing Association, a national association of Internet marketing professionals. Myrtle Beach National was honored for outstanding achievement in interactive marketing and web development. The Myrtle Beach National website streamlines the golf vacation planning process with concise information and photographs of all Myrtle Beach golf courses along with a booking engine that enables golfers to search, shop and book tee times online in real time. Designed to move the user from searching to booking in the fewest steps possible, this goal is accomplished by a user-friendly transactional capability that very few other golf sites offer. Once the tee times are transacted, a confirmation is automatically transmitted. Other site features include an interactive map, course videos, seasonal specials, multi-round golf vacation packages with and without accommodations, coupons, online pro-shop sweepstakes, an events calendar and more. MBN.com hosts in excess of 50,000 user sessions per month and is one of the most active sites in golf destination travel. The site is loaded with rich content and links to and from other sites to create maximum search recognition.
“It is an honor to be recognized along with all varieties of world-wide industry websites,” said Jim Woodring, vice president of golf operations at Myrtle Beach National. “The Internet is an incredibly important component of our program so we are extremely pleased to have our achievements acknowledged by this distinguished group of web industry leaders. We work hard to provide our website visitors with the best usability and web performance experience possible.”
Thanks to the site design, search engine usage and word of mouth, the Myrtle Beach National website has experienced an 81% increase in online bookings and a 43% increase in website visits in 2006, as compared to 2005.
Now in its 10th year, the Web Award competition recognizes outstanding corporate websites with winners being determined by a forum that compares competitor sites within their industry. MBN.com was selected based on seven different standards, including design, innovation, content, technology, interactivity, navigation and ease of use. Entries were judged by a team of independent Internet professionals representing a variety of relevant disciplines of website development. Judges are also instructed to closely examine a company's mission statement and prospective audience when determining winners. More than 2,300 websites from 35 countries were reviewed during this year's Web Award competition.
Founded by the Web Marketing Association in 1997, the Web Awards is the standards-defining competition that sets industry benchmarks based on the seven criteria of a successful website. The goal of the Web Awards is to provide a forum to recognize the people and organizations responsible for developing some of the most effective websites on the Internet today. Beyond validation, entrants benefit from a website assessment by a professional judging panel, which provides specific feedback on how each site ranks against standards of excellence.
