Litchfield Country Club

In the Myrtle Beach area, Litchfield Country Club is regarded as a favorite year after year by local residents and visitors alike. Since the Willard Byrd-designed course opened, golfers continue to be attracted to the natural beauty of Lowcountry golf that Litchfield Country Club provides.

Located in the beautiful Pawleys Island community, Litchfield Country Club sits amid towering oaks and pine trees. Litchfield is a traditional shot-maker’s golf course with numerous doglegs that require strategic placement off the tee to give you the best angle into the well-protected greens. Its overall length is 6,752 yards from the tips but the course plays deceptively long and has five sets of tees to make it a fair test of golf for all players. Litchfield is one of the more lady-friendly golf courses in the Myrtle Beach area and does not require long forced carries over hazards to play effectively.

Litchfield Country Club, with all its southern charm, is dedicated to serving not only your golfing needs by providing a great golfing experience and weekly golf clinics to help improve your game, but can serve your social needs as well. Litchfield Country Club offers you and your family a special place to host a wedding, meeting or special family event. Check out the recently remodeled Clubhouse and let them show you how they can provide a memorable Lowcountry experience and excellent service.

If you’re visiting the Myrtle Beach area we invite you to come enjoy a day at Litchfield Country Club, recognized by Golf Digest “2008 Places to Play” and 4.5 stars.

Got there early and got out early. The staff was GREAT and friendly. The course is in very good shape overall. Some thin spots on the fairways but a great place.
by Mike (Oneida,NY) - 02/20/2017
Brought a large group of 16 golfers. Staff is great here from bag drop to starters. We play here often because it is one of the best draining courses and usually will allow us to ride the fairways. Always in good shape. Very friendly clubhouse staff too. A must play.
by Ted - 07/08/2016
Old style golf course with lots of doglegs & nice par 3's. Fairways are a little thin in areas & the greens are putting slow but overall not in bad shape. Most MB courses are suffering some right now. Pace of play was just under 4 hours as a foursome. Very friendly staff.
by Tom (Abington, VA) - 07/01/2016
by Stephen (Roseland, VA) - 06/05/2016
Green just aerated..very disappointed not informed before playing
by Pierce (Irmo, SC) - 05/21/2016
Great course layout, starter was professional and knowledgable.
by Charlie (Campobello, SC) - 05/20/2016
All ok
by James (Ocean View, NJ) - 05/16/2016
Extremely female friendly. They even had a set of tees in front of the reg red tees (for juniors) These were perfect for my wife to play.People should be able to play from where their ability lets them. It makes the game much more enjoyable.
by Troy (Salt Lake City, UT) - 05/15/2016
Friendliest staff in Myrtle. Fun old school design, need to hit draws and fades to score here.
by John (Chesapeake, VA) - 05/15/2016
Very helpful and attentive staff. Unfortunately, we got rained out after 1-1/2 holes. We have a rain check so will be back!
by Steve (Easley, SC) - 05/13/2016
One of our favorites when we come to MB. Greens were pretty rough, too much dirt showing. Otherwise very nice. And nice folks working there! 5/9/16
by James (Leland, NC) - 05/11/2016
The front nine was in excellent shape. Some of the greens and fairways on the backside had sparse grass, but not horrible. Good course; not to long but challenging hole layouts.
by John (Little Rock, SC) - 05/10/2016
Place is great all around, course allows for players of all levels to enjoy themselves and still face a few challenges.
by Jason (Pawleys Island, SC) - 05/09/2016
The course was in good shape. We will play here again. I was a little disappointed that the grill was not serving hot dogs at the turn. The lady in the grill was not the friendliest and said they only had cold sandwiches; she said she didn't have any more hotdogs cooking? It was only 2:00. They also require that you pay extra if you want to hit range balls before your match. Otherwise, it was a great course.
by Glyn (Jefferson City, TN) - 05/06/2016
Lady in the pro shop was very friendly and gave excellent service. The starter was very knowledgeable about the course and helpful! The layout is very good, an old style course where you have to work the ball to be successful. Highly recommend this course!!
by Josephine (Staten Island, NY) - 05/02/2016
Course was in excellent condition. Attendant in grill room was excellent helping with information. Definitely on my list for next year.
by William (Stephens City, VA) - 05/01/2016
Each hole had unique challenges. I enjoyed them all.
by Bruce - 04/17/2016
Our group has played Litchfield many times over the years. The course is starting to show its age, Although greens were in good shape, they played slow. And the course is starting to get a little ratty over time. The Staff is always courteous and hospitable, and accommodated us well. That said, we will probably take Litchfield off our course list in the future.

I love the course and it was in excellent condition. Tee times were a little close together with other groups. But still had a wonderful day!!! We even replayed the course and didn't lose any balls after buying a bunch after the 1st round.
by Kirk (Troy, MI) - 04/05/2016
Beautiful golf course.
by Steve (Franklin Furnace, OH) - 03/31/2016
Nice course.
by John (Carmel, IN) - 03/21/2016
It seemed like we weren't welcome. Folks weren't polite.
by John (Augusta, MI) - 03/17/2016
Overall a B+ rating. The greens were hard and would not hold a wedge approach shot. Fun layout, great staff. I would definitely play it again.
by Daniel (Mount Kisco, NY) - 02/03/2016
Staff was friendly and course is in great shape for this time of year
by Ronnie (Geneva, OH) - 02/03/2016
Staff treated us very well and took care of our needs.
by Timothy - 01/25/2016
After 1 1/2 hour frost delay we got out in the same order as the tee time schedule which is hard to maintain with the delay. The staff was a little gruff. The course is in good shape considering all the wet weather. Tees were good and greens were in great shape. I will return.
by Michael (Ellicott City, MD) - 01/06/2016
Greens in very good condition for Jan. Two fairways had challenges due to heavy rain. Love this traditional layout. Great for walkers. Long hitter may have to pull a three wood on occasion. Lengthy par threes make up for some shorter holes.
by Eric (Triangle, VA) - 11/19/2015
Pace of play was excellent.
by James (Rock Hill, SC) - 11/17/2015
The attendants made our day, informed us of all the things we needed to know to enjoy the course.
by Brett (South Plainfield, NJ) - 11/07/2015
Very good overall.
by William (Wellington, OH) - 11/01/2015
Really enjoyed Litchfield CC. We played on Thursday, the fairways and greens were in pristine condition, even after all the rain on Tuesday and Wednesday. We appreciated going off as a twosome, there are clubs that won't allow that. Great time.
by Jim (Erie, PA) - 10/23/2015
Everyone was very nice and helpful. Course was wide open they started is off on the back and we did not see another golfer all day! We will definitely play this course next trip down to the grand stand!!
by Steve (Nashua, NH) - 10/21/2015
Very good experience.
by Kay (Spring City, PA) - 10/20/2015
The course was in good shape, nothing spectacular. The service was outstanding. Definitely the most pleasant and helpful staff we found.
by Keith (Uniontown, OH) - 10/19/2015
Considering all the rain - the course was in great shape. Greens mowed/clean. Pace of play was great.
by Mark (Stratham, NH) - 10/02/2015
Starter, Paul, was very helpful. I'm from up north, found the local grass texture to be quite different. Ground is very spongy, don't get a lot of roll.
by Jay - 09/25/2015
Course was in great shape and reminds me of the old courses build in the 1960's. sharp doglegs narrow fairways. My wife and I played in under 3 hours for 18 holes. Tee off on Sunday around 12:30 p.m. Had a great time, will play again and recommend playing this course if you come to MYRTLE BEACH, We arrive early for our 1:30 p.m. tee time ate lunch and asked pro when could we start, he got us off in 10 minutes, a hour early for our scheduled tee time that was great! We are from Omaha, Nebraska. You will enjoy this course.
by James (Royersford, PA) - 09/23/2015
Played the white tees and it would have been more enjoyable from the blue, I hit too many drive through the doglegs and out of bounds.
by Craig (Bethlehem, GA) - 09/18/2015
Course was in great shape. Play was extremely slow and took 5 hours. Possibly due to a tournament that was taking place during same time. Greens were a good speed but difficult to read. Must take the grain into account.
by Sonney (Florence, KY) - 09/18/2015
Being a mature course the trees and shrubs were also. Some excellent Live Oak. The homes along the fairways were also very interesting.
by George (Atoka, TN) - 09/18/2015
Need lots of local knowledge to play course well.
by Jack (Columbia, MS) - 09/15/2015
I like the fact that I was treated with respect. I have played all over the world most resorts treat you as a dollar figure and rush you through like you're on a conveyer. I was never rushed and was paired with a lovely couple From North Carolina with whom I truly enjoyed playing with. Thank you Litchfield and staff.
by Lloyd (Gastonia, NC) - 09/05/2015
The course was in great shape but I felt the greens were way to slow. The attendants, cart girls, and starter were all great.
by Kristian (Mount Pleasant, SC) - 08/26/2015
The staff was awesome!
by Mark (Johns Island, SC) - 08/18/2015
Fortunately they paired us up with a golfer that has played the course before. There are a few tee shots where that knowledge came in handy. Nice course would play again!
by Jeff (Alpharetta, GA) - 07/26/2015
Enjoyed the course, challenging layout in very good condition.
by Richard (Waxhaw, NC) - 07/15/2015
Always enjoy playing here.
by Sue (Greer, SC) - 07/06/2015
Liked forward tees for a member of our group.
by M (Abingdon, VA) - 06/28/2015
Staff was very friendly. Course in good shape. Course has a ton of dog leg holes. It was VERY hot today and that made it difficult to enjoy but that's not the courses fault.
by Martin - 06/26/2015
Staff very helpful and polite. Can't beat the price.
by Donald (Seymour, TN) - 06/24/2015
Overall course was good, fairways were a little bare.
by Tom (Rochester, NY) - 06/01/2015
Liked river club better.
by Steve (Saint Helena Island, SC) - 05/28/2015
Hopefully poor condition is transitory as Bermuda grows in. Greens very slow and bumpy. Layout very nice though and enjoyed the course despite condition issues.
by Barry (West Chester, PA) - 05/15/2015
Beautiful course. Great starter. Everyone as friendly as can be. Would play here again in a heartbeat...Bravo.
by Roger (Naples, FL) - 05/02/2015
Nothing unique.
by John (Arden, NC) - 05/01/2015
It was a good experience overall.
by John (Birmingham, AL) - 04/27/2015
Great pace of play. Not too long for a mid teen handicapper.
by Alex (Knoxville, TN) - 04/26/2015
It used to be a preferred course. Now in bad shape. Won't play again.
by Don (Columbia, SC) - 04/22/2015
They do a first class job from the parking lot all the back to the parking lot.
by Mark (Southbury, CT) - 04/20/2015
Course had an old style feel. For the first time playing played OK. There are blind tee shots with landing areas that were tough to hit distance wise. But a very fun course to play. Would love to play this course more.
by Trent (Charlotte, NC) - 04/19/2015
The staff is excellent here, made a great first impression.
by Davis - 04/12/2015

by Jason - 03/29/2015
by Phillip (Nashville, TN) - 03/28/2015
There was a group of 24 and 16 in front of my 1:15 tee time that I bought online, I finally got to tee off around 2:15/ 2:20. I asked the starter when I checked in if they were running on time and he said yes and may get me out early?
by Art (Kingston, RI) - 03/24/2015
Pro shop, starter & marshals were are terrific & very friendly! Course was fair & in good shape for time of year. Pace of play 2/2 1/4 hours per 9 was comfortable w/ good spacing....we'd play it again.
by Joe - 03/24/2015
The course was a lot of fun to play and was in good shape. Beverage cart staff was very nice.
by Benjamin (Pawleys Island, SC) - 03/16/2015
Nice dogleg course forces strategic playing.
by Al (Bernardsville, NJ) - 03/10/2015
Not a difficult course to play. Fine for me since I'm around 100 and still trying to play better. Got there an hour before my start, paid extra for a bucket of range balls only to get yanked by the starter who wanted me to go off a half hour sooner! Warming up and hitting some range balls is important to me. Don't want to get rushed. Why pick a tee time? What am I paying for?
by Richard (Cambridge, ON) - 03/10/2015
Welcoming attitude by all staff.
by James (Springville, IL) - 02/27/2015

by Jason - 01/07/2015
by Bill (North Myrtle Beach, SC) - 01/04/2015
Not a fan of the GPS system they have. Used my own instead. Greens were in good shape, but they were slower than most on the Grand Strand and the did not break as much as read. Overall it was an enjoyable round.
by Ed - 12/30/2014
by John - 12/14/2014
Cart GPS went out on 3rd hole. Called Pro-shop and by the time I finished putting the cart attendant Bobby had a new cart out to me. Greens rolled better than any of the courses we played this week. Good staff.
by Nick - 12/03/2014
Nice layout. Like the images of the holes by each tee box given we were not familiar with the course. The GPS systems on the cart was a bonus as well.
