Litchfield Country Club opened in 1966 on the site of an old rice plantation. Located in Pawleys Island, it is one of the oldest and finest golf treasures in the Myrtle Beach area. For years golfers have enjoyed the traditional layout and southern atmosphere.
The beauty of the surroundings is captivating and the golf course is challenging for golfers of all abilities. Good course management and club selection are both very important to navigate the many doglegs on this wonderful Willard Byrd design. The tree-lined fairways reward accurate tee-shots and the center of the green is a good target on most approach shots.
Litchfield's signature hole, the scenic par-4 18th, was named one of “The 100 Greatest Holes along the Grand Strand” by The Sun News. In 2008, Litchfield Country Club was awarded 4.5 stars in Golf Digest's “Places to Play.” The original clubhouse highlights Litchfield's southern charm and it is a must-play for golfers visiting the Grand Strand.

Staff was very friendly. Course in good shape. Course has a ton of dog leg holes. It was VERY hot today and that made it difficult to enjoy but that's not the courses fault.

Staff very helpful and polite. Can't beat the price.

Litchfield was a wonderful golf course. The course is fair. The only suggestion I would make is have the starter have a better attitude. The first tee was backed up and I feel he could have been friendlier. No big deal though.

Overall course was good, fairways were a little bare.

Liked river club better.

Hopefully poor condition is transitory as Bermuda grows in. Greens very slow and bumpy. Layout very nice though and enjoyed the course despite condition issues.

It was a good experience overall.
Call them underrated, undervalued or even under-appreciated. We call them five of the Grand Strand’s “Best Bang for the Buck.” Ian Guerin spotlights five courses you'll know were worth every dollar you spent.
The Tom Jackson Signature Course offers a little bit of everything you expect in a Lowcountry golf course: Holes for big hitters and strategists; plenty of water and, somehow, seemingly more sand; immaculate fairways and pristine greens; wildlife that includes alligators, fox squirrels and varied bird species.
Members and first-time visitors to this old rice plantation land love it, because both parties love the course. And much like the owners relied on patience instead of knee-jerk reactions, navigating Litchfield Country Club requires the same self-control.
For as much as the Grand Strand’s golf scene is a niche all its own, there’s only so many hours in the day where a round is possible. Plus, if those 18 or 36 holes weren’t so kind, finding a way to improve your day on the links after the fact never hurts, either. Below are some favorite watering holes worthy of your coin. Without catering specifically to golfers, they’ve already earned more than their fair share. And for good reason.
