Course designer Dan Maples built this course right on Calabash River with stunning views and challenging golf. Golf Digest nominated this course as the “Best New Public Course” and a “4.5 Star” rating, with new bentgrass greens keeping the game’s premier putting surface up to par. The fourth longest hole on the Myrtle Beach golf scene, Pearl’s signature hole, No. 16, a 614-yard, par 5, which most players say they are playing “well” if they have reached the green in three shots. It offers a scenic view of Calabash River that extends down the right side of the hole, with often sightings of seagulls, alligators and other exotic wildlife that makes it as beautiful as it is daunting.

It was cold at tee time (39 degrees), but we were able to get out of the wind on ##3. Traditional Carolina course, with pine tree-lined fairways and doglegs. A couple of interesting holes, but otherwise pretty straight forward. The greens on the West were pretty nice--cut, rolled and rolling true. Although nice, not a premium MB course...pretty average in comparison. The grill was okay with mediocre service. Good course to start your golf trip to get warmed up for other more difficult courses.
