Wicked Stick Golf Links

Wicked Stick is the only John Daly signature course in the USA, and he has teamed up with golf course architect Clyde Johnston to help him create a “Grip It and Rip It” off the tee golf course that challenges even the long ball hitter. The most recognized hole is No. 7, a 265-yard par 3 monster, in a location where wind is its own hazard. Golfers enjoy the water and spacious waste bunkers, because there is always a way out.

Wicked Sticks Golf Links has recently earned an overall rating of 7.9 from reviewers at the Myrtle Beach Golf Insider, garnering praise for course layout, friendly staff, and course conditions.

I like the layout and the water hazards, I like how they had a par 3 challenge also.
by Brian (Brantford, ON) - 04/12/2015
Very good.
by James (Punta Gorda, FL) - 03/24/2015
Got rained out on the original tee time. No problem rescheduling. Fun course, yardages for all levels. The course was very wet when I played. Hope to play next spring in drier conditions.
by Michael (Queen Creek, AZ) - 03/09/2015
By far the worst condition of any course in Myrtle Beach. Did not over seed, so fairways are a complete write off. Cart paths only because the fairways are a swamp. Waste of money and time. Would not play there for free.
by David (Sunbury, PA) - 10/15/2014
Course in very good condition. Pace of play was good. All staff was very cordial. Fairways wide and forgiving.
by Bill/ Beth (Bridgeton, NJ) - 10/14/2014
Lost a lot of golf balls on this course with water coming into play on most holes. The course is in very good shape with fairways manicured and maintained.
by Clarence & Janice (Bridgeton, NJ) - 10/11/2014
Excellent.
by Justin (Phoenixville, PA) - 07/24/2014
Reservation said 8:43 however at the course they had us listed at 939. Course was in good shape and fun to play. Good course to start your trip to build some confidence.
by Todd (Liberty Lake, WA) - 06/30/2014
It was a fair and challenging course for a high handicap.
by Russell (Lisbon, CT) - 06/02/2014
My son and I played six courses this week in Myrtle Beach and Wicked Stick was definitely our favorite. While all of the courses were in good shape, the staff at Wicked Stick went above and beyond to make us feel welcome.
by Lee (Lunenburg, MA) - 04/30/2014
Course was nice but seemed crowded.....
by Michael (Schenectady, NY) - 04/16/2014
ENJOYED THE COURSE WOULD PLAY AGAIN

Staff friendly, course in wonderful shape, greens fast and smooth, the best we played out of five hands down? Will return
by Billy - 03/21/2014

by Ron (Princeton, WV) - 03/07/2014

I played this course last year and really enjoyed the course. We played this past week and the course was in bad shape. The Tee's and fairways were very wet and carts on cartpath only. By the end of the day we were soaking wet. The greens were very hard and needed to be aerated.
by Allen - 11/12/2013
Great
by Brian - 04/16/2013
Played the course over the weekend and had a blast. I was fortunate to play my round with Calvin Arnold who is the head pro. GREAT GUY who made the round very enjoyable. Would recommend this course to anyone.
by Mark (Livingston, NJ) - 02/12/2013
OK
by MP (Statesville, NC) - 12/11/2012
Not a bad course, a little bland, nothing unique.
by John (Plymouth, MI) - 10/14/2012
Par 3 pro shop promotion.
by Chad (Wilson, NC) - 10/05/2012
The staff were very friendly and attentive. The course was in great condition other than the extremely thick rough which I was not accustomed to... would definitely love to play again and I would recommend to everyone.
by William (Leesville, SC) - 10/03/2012
Good layout, well maintained. There were no rangers, cart girls or drinking water on the course. Back nine took 3+ hours to play.
by John (Silver Spring, MD) - 08/16/2012
Excellent conditions. Expected a longer course but it suited my game fine. A little close to Hwy. 17 and all of the noise and houses/stores. For $25 an excellent value.
by Paul (Norristown, PA) - 07/26/2012
First time on this course, had a great time, course in great shape!
by Joseph (Mount Airy, NC) - 07/07/2012
I thought the course was one of the best I've played in this area. The greens were a little rough. But overall I loved the course.
by Addison (Forest, VA) - 07/04/2012
Very quick greens.
by Zach - 07/04/2012
Played this course on 7/2. The course was in GREAT shape! The greens had recently been punched, but they were coming back nicely and still rolled true. Would recommend to anyone, especially for the price!
by Bob (Avon, IN) - 06/20/2012
It would have been nice to know ahead of time that the greens had been aerified. That was really disappointing. We should have had a cheaper greens fee than what we had. $30 would have been more reasonable. Otherwise we liked the course.
by Nick - 06/05/2012
Despite the rain, it was an enjoyable round. The course is open enough for stray drives and the pace of play was great but we were the 1st group. Tees, fairways, and greens all good with no issues. If you are looking for a non frustrating day then this may be your course!
by Keith (Jasper, Ga.) - 04/20/2012
All in all we enjoyed the course, finding it a good value for the money. The greens need some attention, though conditions did not alter putting.
by Jason - 04/14/2012
Was thoroughly impressed with this course. The staff was very professional and the course was in immaculate shape. Definitely will be playing here again!
by Andy (Interlochen, Mich.) - 04/04/2012
Being from Michigan, it was a great course - very open, which was great to play the first round.
by William (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) - 03/06/2012
Very professional. Excellent customer service all around.
by Timothy - 02/07/2012
Played 2/6/12. The fairways are thin and the greens are as well but for the cost this is a good warm-up course or feel-good course because it plays easy.
by Shane - 11/26/2011
The course was wet but nevertheless, had an enjoyable round.
by Bryan (Roanoke Rapids, Va.) - 11/17/2011
It was a beautiful layout. The course was well kept. Spacious greens, ample fairway width. Even though one of the marshalls was disrespectful, I enjoyed playing golf there.
by Ricky (Roanoke Rapids, N.C.) - 11/02/2011
Nice course that I enjoyed very much.
by Sam (Newnan, Ga.) - 10/31/2011
The pro shop staff was very friendly and attentive. Enjoyed the links course.
by Roger (O'Fallon, Ill.) - 10/23/2011
Always have an enjoyable round here.
by Benjamin (Richmond, Va.) - 10/12/2011
Good conditions. Green were in good shape but inconsistent.
by James (Monroe, N.C.) - 10/06/2011
First time I have played Wicked Stick, we loved the course. We played Myrtle Beach National the day before, Wicked Stick wins hands down.
by Mitzi (Seneca, S.C.) - 09/06/2011
The fairways were wonderful to hit off of. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Will definitely be returning to Wicked Stick for another round!
by Mark (Charleston, W. Va.) - 08/23/2011
Great course in South Myrtle. Water on every hole but it doesn't come in play very often. Very woman-friendly. My wife played and loved the course as well. We will be back.
by Henry (Oxford, Conn.) - 08/01/2011
Very good.
by Jon (Galloway, Ohio) - 07/24/2011
Good.
by John (St. Clairsville, Ohio) - 07/05/2011
Irons-only driving range :(
by Richard (Baden, Penn.) - 06/22/2011
I had a excellent time golfing at your course. The staff was polite, and extremely helpful. I will most definitely come back and play again there.
by Jack (Harrisburg, Penn.) - 05/08/2011
Nice course but I wonder if it would demand the same green fees if John Daly was not associated with it. It took over four and half hours to play because the group in front was having some type of betting going on. Think they were friends of the pros at course. I would play it again.
by Darren (Atlanta, Ga.) - 05/03/2011
Overall no issues. Very nice course. Very accommodating staff.
by Ann (Greensburg, Penn.) - 04/23/2011
Gotta love the 18th hole!
by Grasshopper (Ayr, Ontario) - 03/29/2011
Bring a hard hat. Layout is one of those with fairways going into hooks and slices from adjoining fairways. Not a great way to start out. The greens were dried out and bumpy. This was the lowest-cost course we played but only by 14 dollars and some of the others provided lunch, breakfast, so I would definitely recommend spending the extra 12 dollars and golf on a course rated 80 or above. The course is lined with houses pretty much all the way through. Absolutely nothing special or memorable on this course.
by Donald (Gray, Maine) - 03/22/2011
First time at WS was very impressed. Arrived for tee time early to have lunch - very disappointed. For a quick snack at the turn it was fine but to want a good lunch it was bad.
by Darlene (Niagara Falls, N.Y.) - 10/15/2010
Great customer service. Other golf shops should take a service lesson from this staff. Very female friendly - respectfully treated us like golfers, not like ladies out to play golf. Wonderfully maintained course. Favorite hole - 18.
by Joseph (Henrico, Va,) - 09/19/2010
Everything was great. I have played the course about 5-6 times in the past 2 years (played last July). Always liked the course. Great staff that welcomes you when you arrive.
by Roger (Salem, Va.) - 09/10/2010
Like to play here. Good for high handicap players. Always make it a point to play here.
by Paul (Syracuse, N.Y.) - 08/20/2010
The course is in great shape, the fairways are perfect, the greens are very receptive and fair and the rough is challenging but fair. We had such a great time we played the course twice in the same week. We didn't have any wait time to play either day. The staff is extremely customer friendly and helpful.
by Brett (Vernon, N.J.) - 08/20/2010
As a member of the golf course management profession I had mixed emotions about Wicked Stick. Inside the pro shop the staff showed a lot of professionalism. But on the course they lacked that. Marshalls pushed our group when we were right behind a slow group all day. The beverage cart would interrupt someone in their backswing asking about drinks. It was really hard to get into a groove on the course when there were all the distractions. I understand that it is a public course in Myrtle Beach (the golf capital of the US). But it was hard to enjoy the round.
by Jim (Ellicott City, Md.) - 08/08/2010
Started on back nine at 7:24 a.m. Group (2) foursomes in front of us played way too slowly. Waited approx. 5-7 minutes per hole after 2nd hole. Two holes open in front of them. Skipped two holes to get in front of them (left #1 after waiting in the fairway for about 5 minutes), skipped #2, but got delayed at promo hole with one foursome on the tee box and two waiting to tee off. Overall, we loved the course, but had hoped a marshall would have been more aggressive in speeding up play. We left after about 3 1/4 hours and had only played 10 holes. Didn't want to take a chance on a 6-hr.+ round.
by Eddie (Oakland, Md.) - 08/06/2010
Very open course. Rained hard day before we played, but course drained well. Very enjoyable, favorite course played in MB so far.
by George (Gibsonia, Penn.) - 07/19/2010
Nice.
by Jeffrey (Catonsville, Md.) - 07/19/2010
Forgiving but interesting layout. A good course for playing with my novice son (also allowed us to play as a twosome). Tees and fairways in great shape; greens a bit shaggy and slow ...not surprising for July. Not very scenic (like most links courses). It was fun to play a Daly course and then watch him shoot a 66 at St. Andrews the same day. Must have been our good karma (but those pants have to go !).
by Susan (Richmond, Va.) - 07/04/2010
Loved that they let us play without adding a twosome.
by Michael (Englishtown, N.J.) - 05/04/2010
Overall in excellent condition.
by Mike (Batavia, N.Y.) - 04/28/2010
Very good.
by Joseph (Lockport, N.Y.) - 04/25/2010
Very friendly environment. Excellent staff. Course in very nice condition.
by John (Norton, Mass.) - 03/23/2010
Good experience.
by Timothy (Upton, Mass.) - 02/02/2010
A bit soggy after heavy rains, but overall an easy course with only a handful of tough shots. I'll go back.
by Nancy (Aberdeen, Md.) - 01/06/2010
I have played this course three times before and recommend it to anyone.
by Matthew (Elkton, Md.) - 12/07/2009
We had some confussion regarding our Tee Time when we arrived. Apparently a mis-communication between MBN.com and the golf course made things a bit akward when we checked in. However, the shop attendant was very accomidating and did not make us feel inconvenienced at all. I think the biggest complaint/frustration was that we had intended on using a coupon for $20 off our round, but were unable to because we had booked online. I felt the regular rate was a bit much considering the fairways had not been mowed in several days due to the moisture...they were VERY wet.
by Ray - 11/27/2009
Started on time and reasonable replay (rate).
by Lance - 11/19/2009
We sank an inch into the fairways due to the rain the previous day and the poor drainage.
by Chuck (Milwaukee, Wis.) - 11/16/2009
Fairways were almost unplayable.
by Edward (Sorel-Tracy, Quebec) - 10/19/2009
Beautiful course but the grass is a lot different from ours in Quebec which makes it a lot tougher.
