Wild Wing Plantation stands out as one of the most unique golf courses in Myrtle Beach. The Avocet course which was designed by two-time PGA Champion and 1983 U.S. Open winner Larry Nelson and Jeff Brauer was recognized by Golf Digest as one of “The Top 10 Best New Courses in America” for 1994. All 18 holes are challenging, but a fair test of a player’s skill. Creative contouring presents elevated tees and greens, double fairways, grass bunkers and even a double green serving two holes.

Multiple tees on each hole offer endless and ever-changing challenges. The "single tee method" encourages players’ consistent pace of play during every round. Wild Wing is located right of off Hwy/ 501, between Coastal Carolina University and The Tanger Outlets.

Before or after the round, Wild Wing’s “Players Pub” is a warm and inviting environment to enjoy a meal and beverage. Wild Wing also offers a great golfing experience on the Hummingbird 9-hole course. It is comprised of several key holes from the original course layout. Hummingbird is a classic links-style course. Strategically placed lakes, open fairways and four sets of tees, as well as an array of waste bunkers, add to the challenge and intrigue of the course.

The fairways, tees and bunkers were all in excellent condition. The new in 2011 mini-verde greens were smooth, fast and perfect. This course is fun to play if you play the 6026 white tees. There is plenty of room to drive the ball on most holes and there is no housing on Avocet. The 6614 Magenta tees amp up the challenge a lot. Avocet single tees, so you don't have to worry about a double tee, can get a 9:30-12:00 tee time and not have to worry about the PM crossover delaying a replay. This also works well as a quality warm-up course. The Hummingbird 9 is open for a 9 hole replay or an off the plane 9.
