Located just off U.S. 17 just four miles south of Myrtle Beach in Murrells Inlet, Indian Wells Golf Club is easily accessible from any part of the Grand Strand, including Myrtle Beach International Airport.

Renovations have kept Indian Wells – originally designed to mimic U.S. Open-style courses – in top shape. Additionally, the clubhouse and practice ranges were updated to remain in line with the overall aesthetics of Indian Wells.

The most noticeable difference for players since the redesign was a flip-flopping of nines. What was formerly the famous No. 9 is now No. 18. The finishing hole is a 410-yard par 4 that is a relative constant among the Myrtle Beach Sun News’ “Dream 18”, a list of the best and most difficult plays on the Grand Strand. A split fairway lines either side of a long, narrow waterway, and a large pine is placed near the front of the green, affecting the approach. But this course is much more than one fantastic hole to end your day. Larger ponds bring water into play time and time again. It more than makes up for the removal of 47 bunkers and approximately 200 trees. The course itself can be described as traditional; however, the 6,624-yard round is anything but easy. Other highlights include starting off on a 491-yard par 5, rated as the second-hardest hole at Indian Wells, and the 484-yard par-5 No. 15, a long hole with plenty of scoring possibilities. Indian Wells recently received an overall rating of 7.6 from reviewers at Myrtle Beach Golf Insider. The Gene Hamm design was also named the 2004 Golf Course of the Year from the Myrtle Beach Area Golf Course Owners Association following major renovations. Since then, it has also earned the Customer Service and Hospitality Award from the Myrtle Beach Golfing News.

Decent layout and good value. Greens were bumpy with lots of old cup marks on them. Beverage cart kept driving up when we were hitting which was annoying but overall, not bad.

Nice course and in good shape. Has water on 14 holes, so need to think through each shot. This was our second round for the day, and the course was packed--it was slow. Hole ##18 was a beauty! A par 4 with split fairway running up to water and a huge tree right smack in the middle of your second/approach shot. Even looking back down the fairway from the green, it is a beautiful hole and a nice way to finish up. Reasonably priced, but an average course.

Did not like the course lay out because of the difficulty of the first couple of holes. The nines should be reversed to give one a chance to warm up to the more difficult front nine.

The course isn't set up properly. The front nine should be the back nine. The first four holes are very difficult and weren't in the best shape. The cart paths throughout the course are in terrible shape. A person could easily sustain a back injury because of the condition. We liked the back nine layout. We will not play this course again until changes are made. To many better options.
