Taking the best of 18 different countries, International Club in Myrtle Beach has compiled a set of holes each with a unique feel. It starts at “Scotland”, a 380-yard par 4 with a slight dogleg right. “Spain”, the 410-yard, par-4 No. 7, is the toughest on the front nine. A bunker on the right and water and trees on the left squeezes players off the tee.

The par-3 No. 11, better known as “Israel”, is as picturesque as any on the course. The peninsula green is protected on three sides by water, and large bunkers guard both the front and the back of the landing area. The round wraps up at “USA”, a 552-yard par 5 that would be at home at some of this country’s best courses. A slender lake lines the right third of the hole. Other holes of note are England – a 426-yard par 4 at No. 10 – and the toughest of the day, No. 15. “Brazil” fools players off the tee, only to close up on the approach with water on both sides and a pair of difficult bunker protecting the green.

Not to be forgotten, International’s greens are recognized as some of the fastest on the Grand Strand.

International is one of Myrtle Beach’s newest courses and recently received an overall rating of 7.6 from reviewers at Myrtle Beach Golf Insider, with even higher rankings for pro shop, staff and tees. Built in 2000, International Club has also been listed among Golf Digest’s “Best Places to Play” and earned the coveted “Hospitality and Operational Excellence Award” from Myrtle Beach Golfing News. Part of the appeal of the William Byrd design is five sets of tees that allow for a broad range of player. The course plays from as short as 4,838 yards all the way up to 6,857 yards – a distance that can challenge even the biggest of hitters.

Terrible experience. The guy running the proshop (old bald dude)is worthless. He was talking on the phone while several people were waiting to pay. He did not make an effort to get off of a personal call (I think he was talking to his boyfriend). I heard him speak to the ladies before me. He is very rude to women and should not be allowed to interact with the public. Just a terrible experience. Course was in ok shape but very wet. I asked for a rain check at the turn since the course was so wet. I could see that it was being damaged with play. I was told by the same ass that rain checks were not allowed unless it was a thunder storm.
