The Palmetto Course is one of two championship courses at Myrtlewood Golf Club. Designed by Edmund Ault, the Palmetto Course has been a favorite among locals and guests to the Grand Strand since 1972.

The course itself offers something for golfers of all ability. With wide fairways and less undulation, mid to high handicap players will have an easier time navigating around, but with the back tees stretching back to almost 7,000 yards, it can also be very demanding for any low handicap players. The finishing hole #18 has been voted one of the best holes on the Grand Strand, and is especially satisfying with the scenic Intracoastal Waterway as an impressive backdrop.

Palmetto’s design features several memorable holes and one of the best finishing stretches on the Grand Strand. With a full service clubhouse and extensive practice facilities, along with being centrally located in Myrtle Beach, the Palmetto Course has everything a golfer needs.

Our round today took over FIVE hours. The four foursomes from Georgia that were ahead of us each had at least one hole open between them. We never saw the course Marshall until we called the proshop to complain. The Marshall was unwilling to address the groups to speed up play. Both the proshop and Marshall each blamed the corporate office for overbooking tee times.

Very scenic course along the canal. The course was relatively open which made it quite forgiving, but with plenty of water to lose your ball in. The course was well marked out with distances to the pin up until 75 yards.
