Arrowhead Country Club recently earned an overall rating of 8.7 from reviewers at Myrtle Beach Golf Insider, garnering particular recent praise for the quality of its staff and course conditions. Arrowhead was designed by Tom Jackson in collaboration with four-time major champion Raymond Floyd, who won the 1976 Masters, the 1986 U.S. Open and the 1969 and 1982 PGA Championships. The course opened in 1994 and was named “South Carolina Golf Course of the Year” in 1998 by the National Golf Course Owners Association. Floyd applied his signature keen eye to the task of designing Arrowhead’s 27 holes, which spread out from the clubhouse and wind through coastal forest and out to the scenic Intracoastal Waterway.

Arrowhead’s three nines—the Cypress, the Lakes and the Waterway nines—each have a distinct character along with a par of 36, turning Arrowhead into three different, pleasant golf experiences. Neither of the nines are particularly long, but they demand accuracy, prudent play and a deft short game—all hallmarks of the golf game of their designer. The signature holes are the ones that border the Intracoastal Waterway. The fifth hole on the Waterway Nine is a 387-yard par four where the side’s namesake geographical feature lurks to the left of the fairway and green. The Cypress Nine’s Waterway hole is the fourth, a 355-yard par four where players must hit their tee shots over a river fed by the Waterway, only to cross that hazard again when playing to the green, which is also guarded by four bunkers.

The golf course is convenient to Myrtle Beach International Airport, making it the ideal place to play on a group’s day of arrival or departure. It sports MiniVerde Bermuda grass on its greens, which are noted for their typically impeccable conditions.

WE PLAYED 5 COURSES IN MYRTLE, THEY WERE ALL GOOD, HOWEVER I WOULD RATE ARROWHEAD AS BEING IN THE BEST CONDITION ALL AROUND. THANKS ALVAN
