Sandpiper Bay Golf & Country Club has recently earned an overall rating of 8.4 from reviewers at the Myrtle Beach Golf Insider, garnering praise for course condition, clubhouse grill food and customer service experience.

Designed by course architect Dan Maples, Sandpiper Bay has recently gone through some major renovations, converting all 27 greens to MiniVerde Bermuda, the best of the new ultradwarf Bermuda strains. “From the beginning one of our goals has been to build courses the players could remember,” says Maples. From being recognized as “2010 Golf Course of The Year” by Myrtle Beach Area Golf Course Owners Association and “Best of Sunset Beach 2008 and 2009” by the United States Commerce Association, this course stands its ground as one of the best in the area.

Sandpiper Bay’s signature hole is No. 1 – the 562 yard par 5 that is the longest hole on the property and pinches severely on the second shot, making a par extremely difficult yet satisfying.

I didn't like MANY of the "procedures" at Sandpiper -- no carts in the parking lot ahead of time (might bring coolers in) -- have to WALK to the practice area NO CARTS. All of the greens were TOO well protected from carts getting within 75 yards of the green -- this made A LOT OF WALKING which may be fine for the younger crowd BUT it wasn't necessary to protect the grass and it cost significant additional play time. The whole "process" seemed like it was fixed to their way or the highway.

Though the weather wasn't great, everything at the course was very good to excellent. Good price and the course was in very good shape despite a lot of rain the night before. Would definitely play there again.

Played 4/1. Course was in good condition. Fairways were thin in spots, but overall good condition for this time of year. Greens were in very good condition. Rolled true and fast. Will play again. Pace of play was great. Good warm up course. Even saw 4 alligators!
