Course Architect Tom Fazio designed this championship-caliber course to be a true test of tournament golf. TPC of Myrtle Beach, home course of Dustin Johnson, three-time winner on the PGA Tour, has been host to the 2000 Senior PGA Tour Championship, which was won by Tom Watson and competed in by several legends of the sport. This course is proud to be recognized as the only “5 Star” course rating by Golf Digest on the Grand Strand. The signature hole – No. 17, a 193-yard par 3, has made the words “island green” and “TPC” become synonyms because of the famed 17th at Sawgrass and No. 17 at TPC of Myrtle Beach. The only difference between the two holes is Myrtle Beach is a peninsula green surrounded by water on only three sides, and it’s approximately 50 yards longer.

Conditions were good everywhere. The bunkers were well groomed. The fairways were good. The mini-verde greens were very fast and slick, needing more filling in, for a truer roll. From around 3-9 hdc, the 6393 yard Blue tees play nicely at TPC, because you get a wide variety of shots from the tees and into the greens. The white tees are not a pushover to shoot your handicap. There are 3 forced carries from the tee, that will help confirm if you are playing the proper tees. TPC is challenging, but still fair. It plays harder than it looks, mainly due to the green complexes, where most of the greens require accurate approach shots. It is a difficult course to get up and down, if you are missing greens to the sides or long. TPC of MB is more wooded than other TPCs we see on TV. The Par 4 hole lengths vary widely, with several long par 4's, including the brutal ##9.

Great layout..............but very poor condition!!!!! Second time we experienced this. We will not go back. The staff was not friendly inside or outside. Staters barely spoke just grumbled "you are up" VERY DISAPPOINTED, ESPECIALLY FOR WHAT THEY CHARGED!!!
