Second Annual Dustin Johnson World Junior Golf Championshion Will Spotlight Some Of The Top Junior Golfers In The World. TPC Myrtle Beach, Former Site Of The Senior TOUR Championship, Will Provide TOUR-Like Experience For Participants At The Event Slated For February 24 – 26, 2017
The second annual Dustin Johnson World Junior Golf Championship will be held on February 24 - 26, 2017. The invitational event is expected to attract some of the best junior golfers in the world. The players will have the opportunity to test their skills on TPC Myrtle Beach. This TOUR-caliber course is the only Grand Strand golf course to receive five stars by Golf Digest magazine, making it one of fewer than 20 courses nationwide to receive this distinction.
The tournament is open to male and female amateur golfers who are currently enrolled in grades 8 – 12 and have not turned 19 by the start of the tournament. Although the entry application process has ended, there will be an open qualifier on Saturday, February 11 at Myrtle Beach National Golf Club. At that time, the tournament committee will fill the three remaining spots, two for boys and one for girls to compete at the Dustin Johnson World Junior Golf Championship. Players from as far away as Sweden and the Czech Republic will receive a PGA TOUR-like experience, which will include having their names on their lockers, place cards on the range and live scoring throughout the course.
Players will be competing on TPC Myrtle Beach, the former site of the Senior TOUR Championship. Woven through a tranquil setting of towering pines and natural wetlands, this course has challenged golf greats like Tom Watson, Gary Player, Lee Trevino, and Raymond Floyd.
“Anyone who comes out to watch the tournament will be amazed at the skill level of these junior golfers,” said Steve Mays, director of marketing and sales for Founders Group International. “It is gratifying to see the passion they have for the sport. It might even inspire others to take up the game or fine-tune their golf skills with a lesson at the Dustin Johnson Golf School.”
TPC Myrtle Beach is home to the Dustin Johnson Golf School and it is one of 22 courses managed by Founders Group International (FGI). FGI and the Dustin Johnson Golf School are both co-sponsors of the Dustin Johnson Junior Golf Championship.
