<p>When that doesn’t do the trick, those who have played it are more than wiling to sing its praises. The top-flight track with a professional pedigree in its DNA has been among finest options on the south end of South Carolina’s Grand Strand since its debut in 1999.</p>

<p>It’s held on to its lofty spot in the pecking order because of its commitment to excellence, but also because amid the rough spots shows how creative and dynamic it can be. It is also just a fun place to tee it up.</p>

<p><strong>NO. 1, PAR 4, 332 YARDS</strong><br>The off-set landing zone off the tee is a thing of beauty, and the bunkers on either side of the fairway are a couple of potential menaces. Regardless, the visually appealing opener will set the tone for a course that will at times push you to your golfing limits. The entire thing is set in between a tree line that puts all of the emphasis on the opening 330 or so yards of play without so much as a distraction off in the distance. <em>(1st hole top photo)</em></p>

<p><strong>NO. 7, PAR 3, 162 YARDS</strong><br>OK, so we are going preface this by saying that putting here can be difficult. The green is big, tiered separately from front to back and on most days mowed tight to let the true feature of this Par 3 take shape. Those bunkers up to the front left-hand side are meddlesome, but avoiding them is a nice badge of honor for those who can just stay right, even if that means leaving your tee shot short of the putting surface.</p>

<p><strong>NO. 8, PAR 4, 335 YARDS</strong><br>There aren’t a lot of easy birdie opportunities at TPC, and most folks wouldn’t call this one of them. Still, two decent shots &#8211; not even great ones &#8211; can put you into the discussion. It’s among the reasons we love this relatively short Par 4. The clear sight lines to three of the four bunkers and green alike means this one isn’t tricky, either. Most players who find the fairway are looking at a short chip to the pin.</p>

<p><strong>NO. 11, PAR 4, 365 YARDS</strong><br>Ditto. For all of the take on Fazio’s design, this is another of the gives. Despite a semi-forced carry over a pond from three of the tee boxes, the fairway here starts so wide that it’s really difficult to miss. Big hitters can swing away knowing at worth anything straight is going to find the short rough. The less powerful among us can grip and rip knowing anything inside an 75-degree angle is going to be playable. Take advantage, because those chances here are few and far between.</p>

<p><strong>NO. 15, PAR 4, 403 YARDS</strong><br>Just a cool looking hole, the angled fairway here isn’t fully appreciated until after you circumvent the massive natural waste area riding in a valley to the left. The forced carry is your only concern, and then once you get into the good stuff, you’ve got a clear path toward the promised land. The fairway and its steady rise toward the green is all gradual. So take it all in and know the holes that follow won’t be as forgiving.</p>
