<p><strong>NO. 6, PAR 4, 406 YARDS</strong><br>Ok, we’re being stereotypical here by picking the No. 1 handicap at Avocet. But hear us out.</p>

<p>The distance listed above from the whites is only a fraction of why we included it. Heck, the seniors are playing at 393, while the tips are measuring an ultra-difficult 462. The distance, packaged with the design of the hole, is what makes it such a pain.</p>

<p>Off the tee, the water hugging the entire left side forces most players right out of fear. That’s just as bad, given a usually thick rough and &#8211; if you’re really struggling &#8211; a bunch of pines. If for some reason you don’t catch the best part of the small and slightly angled fairway, going after the green in two is a pipe dream.</p>

<p>With a large bunker preceding the green and drawing all of your attention, the pin-point accuracy at that distance to go after the stick is, well, not easy. (How often do you drill it from 175+ while standing in a fairway?)&nbsp;</p>

<p>If you’re even five yards shy, you’re going to be hitting out of the sand. But if you’re right or left, there’s a good chance you’re still playing catch up. That’s where we recommend you go long, play a slight bank and hope for the best.</p>

<p>Even after a couple other Par 4s to start your day, almost nobody is warmed up fully and ready to crank away on No. 3. Maybe the breakfast is still digesting. Or you’re still wondering if Jimmy from the office was gonna figure out why you had a “doctor’s appointment” two days in a row.&nbsp;</p>

<p>If you don’t give this a solid ride, a lay-up is almost automatic on your second shot, thanks to a natural grass area that cuts across the entire hole. And if you do manage to muscle it over the no-man’s land, there’s no reason to believe you’re going to place it well.&nbsp;</p>
