<p>Let me be the first to acknowledge the absurdity of someone with my skill level having the nerve to rank the holes he would like to make a hole-in-one on. I’d throw a party that would make your wildest birthday look like a kindergarten graduation if I made an ace on any hole on any course.</p>

<p>That being said, a person can dream, and here are the five holes where I&#8217;d most like to be standing on the tee when my ball finds the bottom of the cup.</p>

<p>● At the top of my list is one of the area’s best and most immediately recognizable par 3s, the 14th at <strong><a href="https://www.mbn.com/course/grande-dunes">Grande Dunes Resort Course</a></strong>. Playing from an elevated bluff overlooking the Intracoastal Waterway, No. 14 is home to one of the course’s largest greens, allowing the hole to play anywhere from 140 to 175 yards from the white tees. My slim chances of making a 1 are increased when the pin is in the front left. <a href="https://www.grandedunesgolf.com/terrazza19/">Terrazza 19</a>, Grande Dunes’ clubhouse restaurant, is a great place to celebrate.</p>

<p>● <strong><a href="https://www.mbn.com/course/caledonia-golf-and-fish-club">Caledonia Golf &amp; Fish Club</a></strong> is one of the area’s most popular courses and the par 4 18th is its “signature” hole, but I’ve always loved the par 3 11th. With a small stream meandering from a slightly elevated tee to a green that is 50 yards wide, the tee shot can be a daunting one but that would only add to the satisfaction of making a hole-in-one. I’d delight in buying everyone on the clubhouse deck an ice-cold brew after the accomplishment.</p>

<p>● Golf is a masochist’s game, which is why conquering the 12th hole at <strong><a href="https://www.mbn.com/course/burning-ridge-golf-club">Burning Ridge</a></strong> would be so rewarding. This monster plays 200 yards from the white tees, much of it over water. Burning Ridge doesn’t enjoy the high profile of Grande Dunes and Caledonia, but I’d head into the pro shop, buy a shirt, and proudly trumpet my accomplishment.</p>

<p>● <strong><a href="https://www.mbn.com/course/tournament-player-club">TPC Myrtle Beach</a></strong> is a championship-level course and its 17th hole, which plays to a peninsula green, is one of the reasons why. The penultimate hole on the Tom Fazio-Lanny Wadkins design plays anywhere from 112 to 193 yards, and the green runs from left to right toward the water, enhancing the challenge. To make an ace on a TPC layout would be doubly satisfying. <em>(TPC 17th top photo)</em></p>

<p>● The 17th hole on <strong><a href="https://www.mbn.com/course/wild-wing-plantation-avocet">Wild Wing’s Avocet Course</a></strong>, which stretches from 98 to 196 yards has been my personal house of horrors. I’ve donated more golf balls to the wetlands that front the double green the 17th shares with No. 6 than I care to remember. Playing 165 yards from the white tees, there is plenty of meat on this bone and it would be beyond gratifying to make a hole-in-one.</p>
</div>

<p>An ace, no matter the course, is exhilarating, but if my first (and likely only) hole-in-one came on any of these five holes it would be even sweeter, if that’s possible.</p>
