<p>The second generation of the <a href="https://www.mbn.com/course/grande-dunes">Grande Dunes Resort Course</a> has breathed new life into a course that never really lost it to begin with.</p>

<p>In all actuality, renovated greens, bunkers and a clubhouse only solidified the Roger Rulewich layout’s placement among the area’s top tracks. The course’s beauty combined with its playability doesn’t leave players wonting for anything.</p>

<p>And with so much going on &#8211; from the wide fairways to the bluffs overlooking the Intracoastal Waterway &#8211; it’s easy to miss some of the subtly detailed holes here. These four in particular might flirt with signature status elsewhere.</p>

<p><strong>NO. 2, PAR 3, 142 YARDS</strong><br>In what might be the most obvious advice on any hole on the entire course, the yardage book urges players to favor the left side of the green. The reason is clear as day.</p>

<p>The oversized marsh area that runs slightly diagonally up the right side of the entire hole actually needs to be carried from some of the tee boxes and is about as unforgiving as it gets during certain portions of the calendar.</p>

<p>But amid all that is a beautifully framed hole with an even-more desirable green &#8211; thanks to the recent renovations. <em>(top photo)</em></p>

<p><strong>NO. 6, PAR 4, 305 YARDS</strong><br>The forced carry off the tee isn’t much of an issue, unless, of course, you aren’t paying attention to the trio of fairway bunkers on the other side. All three of them, including the furthest of the bunch, are within most players’ reach.</p>

<p>The first bunker is on the left-hand side and little more than eye candy. The aforementioned deep one is all the way up the right, hugging that side of the fairway. The middle one? Smack dab in the middle of the fairway. Use that as your guide and try to poke your tee shot directly over the top of it.</p>

<p><strong>NO. 11, PAR 3, 124 YARDS</strong><br>The shortest hole of the day is simultaneously one of the most secluded on the entire course. A tree line is nearly 360 degrees of coverage on this Par 3, allowing players to take in the short swath of land for what it truly is.</p>

<p>A massive waste bunker (and its impact) is prevalent. All that sand forms a Y working its way from the tee box to either side of the putting surface. The only place to miss and stay out of the sand lies directly behind the hold. And you better believe that patch is visited frequently.</p>

<p>Keep in mind that at a mere 124 yards from the whites (and only 190 from the championship tees), going long doesn’t take all that much of a swing.</p>

<p><strong>NO. 13, PAR 5, 499 YARDS</strong><br>For those who study the scorecard, the “1” in the handicap line helps snag some attention. Go ahead and lean into that eye-opener and enjoy the terrain. It’s really something.</p>

<p>A pair of forced carries &#8211; one off the tee and one into the final yards &#8211; encircles the fairway, one complete with some considerable mounding and a right-side bunker that shaves off some of the leeway.</p>
