<p>The Roger Rulewich layout features five holes that play along an elevated bluff overlooking the Intracoastal Waterway, and whether you are a 15-handicap playing in the World Am or a college player with dreams of playing on the PGA Tour, a round <a href="https://www.mbn.com/course/grande-dunes">Grande Dunes Resort Club</a> is full of drama.</p>

<p>As you prepare for your next Myrtle Beach golf trip, here are the three holes at Grande Dunes most likely to swing a match or a round.</p>

<p>● According to the USGA slope and rating system, the par 4 fifth hole is only the layout’s 14th hardest. Don’t buy it. Playing 454 yards from the tips (383 yards from the white tees), there is water along the right side of the hole and a fairway bunker on the left, but the fun really begins as you approach a green that runs 46 yards from end to end. The green has two distinct tiers and when the pin is in the back, running away from the fairway, No. 5 is the most difficult par 4 on the front nine.</p>

<p>● The Intracoastal first comes into view on the par 3 eighth hole but your thoughts will quickly migrate from No. 8’s beauty to the challenge it presents. The carry over water from the 155-yard white tees isn’t that daunting on paper but the hole seems to play longer. No matter your skill level, the biggest challenge on No. 8 is one of the course’s most undulating greens complexes. The putting surface is nearly 40 yards wide and a ridge divides it in half. If you are on the wrong side of the ridge, two-putting is far from a certainty.</p>

<p>● A par 5 that ranges from 477 yards (white tees) to 578 yards (tips) for most players, No. 17 offers room off the tee but water runs along the entire left side of the hole. Barring a badly pulled shot, most players stay dry on their tee shot, but things become more complicated on the approach as water runs to the edge of the green. Players in the MyrtleBeachGolfTrips.com Intercollegiate will be able to reach the green in two, but the margin for error will be slim, making the 17th a hole where everything from eagle to disaster is in play.</p>
