<p>We want to take some valuable space and point out which holes you need to have earmarked during your next visit to any number of tracks. These are opportunities for you to explore the space in finite detail, knowing what to expect and what to be prepared to tackle.</p>

<p>We’ll crank up this four-part series with nine holes on the south end where you need to be ready to soak in all their glory.</p>

<p>A forced carry for most, this angular Par 3 isn’t overly long at 162 yards from the whites. That allows for everyone to navigate the large front-side bunker into the lengthy green. Everything is framed magnificently by the back-side tree line.</p>

<p>At 510 yards, this Par 5 is anything but straight forward. The hole has trees and bunkers, a varied width and a far left turn toward the green around a small pond. Mounding on the furthest edge of the fairway creates a ramped effect that steers players right to the green.</p>

<p><strong><a href="https://www.mbn.com/course/river-club">RIVER CLUB</a>, NO. 6</strong></p>

<p>One of the true big dogs at River Club, this 477-yard Par 5 makes multiple turns from start to finish, utilizing a skinny fairway throughout. It all crescendoes into the last few yards prior to the green, where the putting surface juts back to the right into the area of a large pond.</p>

<p>It’s Founders Club, so you know there’s going to be some sand. But the true distinction of this course is the water that runs up the left side of the fairway (and squeezes into an hourglass) and the ensuing abrasive mounded ridge line up the left closer to the green.</p>

<p>This laughably short Par 3 gets its revenge after the fact on many. That’s the joy of 92 yards from the white tees and a massive waste bunker cutting off the tee box from the green. The two-tiered green is an equally impressive design piece squeezed into a tight area.</p>

<p>Litchfield is known for its doglegs, and the 387-yard, Par 4 11th is arguably the most doglegged of all. The 90-degree turn is the perfect M.O. of this course and forces players to try something they may normally not. And what’s golf if not something that teaches us to evolve.</p>

<p>We love creative Par 3s, and Willbrook’s third short hole creates a ton of focal points &#8211; all inside of 200 yards from the max distance. A banked waste bunker, a false front and two green-side bunkers are all present and leave the eye bouncing from one spot to the next prior to tee-off.</p>

<p>If you like Willbrook’s 12th, you’re going to love True Blue’s 14th. The 138-yard Par 3 also includes the soft landing zone short of the green chasing a deep waste bunker. All of it forces a steep up and down in the middle of a nice swath of beautiful land.</p>

<p>At 496 yards, this Par 5 closer brings you home in near-perfect fashion. The segmented green bends slightly around a long pond and with the clubhouse serving as the back drop to a hole that has been universally regarded as one of the finest 18th holes on the Grand Strand. <em>(Willbrook 12th top photo)</em></p>
