Meredith: Hey everyone. Thanks for joining us, again, here at Mbn.com, and if you missed us playing just about 20 minutes ago on hole number 18 at River Club, go back on your Facebook feed and watch us play that hole because it is definitely a must-play here at Myrtle Beach. You've got to play number 18 at River Club. But standing here with me is General Manager, Christa Bodensteiner. I love your last name and I always sometimes get it twisted but I got it right today.
Christa: You did get it right. Good job, Meredith Kirk.
Meredith: Christa, thanks for having us out.
Meredith: That was so much fun playing hole number 18. That is a gorgeous hole and I have played it time and time again and I could come out here and just play number 18 like 20 times, it's that much fun.
Christa: Well, you and a whole lot of other people. That hole brings a lot of people back to River Club. It's risk/reward so people either tend to birdie or maybe even double bogey at times. Either way, they end up loving it and they want to come back and try it again.
Meredith: Yeah, it's beautiful.
Christa: So, and by the way, nice par.
Meredith: Thank you.
Christa: And I noticed Eric had a birdie, which was very nice for him too.
Meredith: Yeah. You know what? He got that birdie because he took the risk.
Christa: He did, exactly.
Meredith: So there's like two risks on that hole. There's a risk shot that you have on the tee, where you can go over the water, or you can play it safe in the fairway. We both took the risk and so I would suggest definitely take the risk when you're teeing off on 18. But then you have another shot you have to choose from. You can still play it safe on the fairway on the right side but Eric, he took the risk, he carried the water and he got the birdie. So, he beat me on that hole. I played it safe on the second shot but that's okay, I'll take the par.
Christa: I was going to say, don't scoff at a par.
Meredith: No, no.
Christa: Definitely don't want to scoff at a par.
Meredith: Now, we talked a little bit when we were out there playing about the water that you have here on this course.
Meredith: Eric said 15 out of the 18 holes has water and then we have a lot of bunkers.
Meredith: But it's still player friendly. I don't want to scare people off when we're talking about bunkers and water.
Meredith: Because still you can come out here and shoot some really low scores. It's such a popular course because it's so nice and the lay out of it and the design is player friendly for everyone. It's beautiful and you really get a taste of that low country feel here, on the south end of Myrtle Beach.
Christa: It is.
Meredith: Tell us a little bit more about the course.
Christa: Yeah. So the water and the sand make it beautiful. Most of that is going to be around either lateral on the water or around the greens. So, the greens are very well gardened. If you're hitting good iron shots, you're going to absolutely love this golf course. The great thing too, though, is off the tee box it's pretty wide open. So, off the tee box you can go about anywhere as long as you're hitting it good into the greens.
Christa: But the sand and the water make it beautiful. There's a lot of landscaping out here. It's just a beautiful golf course. There are a lot of memorable holes. So just, I mean, number 18 is a great example but there's also an island green on number 14, which is a par three.
Meredith: That's fun.
Meredith: I've played that before. Yeah, that is a great hole.
Christa: Exactly. Yes, and 15. 15 you get to cross the water two times and so, again, it's not one that's going to beat you up. It's not a tricky golf course. It is, what you see is what you get, but it's a lot of good challenges and a lot of memorable holes.
Meredith: Yeah, and like you said, the landscape. It's just so beautiful out here. Here we are. We're at the entrance standing here right now so you kind of just come around this circle here, park your car and load up your bags right over here. I love the Club House. It's that older style, low country feel. I love it, and you have a great staff. Everyone's so friendly out here.
Christa: Thank you.
Meredith: We were out there playing and saw some maintenance crew out there. I mean, they maintain this course.
Christa: They do.
Meredith: It's immaculate.
Christa: We are well known for our conditions, actually yeah. We've been well known for our greens for years and years and years but the whole golf course. We have a great Super Intendant and a great staff out there, it's always in great shape.
Meredith: Oh, yeah. It's just immaculate so it's definitely a course that you want to add to your Myrtle Beach golf vacation, and to do that you go to myrtlebeachgolftrips.com. Plan your next golf getaway and include River Club on your list because it's definitely a must-play, and I'm telling you, you're going to love hole number 18. You got to go play it. Go back and watch us play it, we just finished. But it is definitely a course that you need to come out and play. Is there anything else that you want to add?
Christa: No, we'd love to see you. Please come ... We get a lot of repeat golfers here and it's because the experience is good. So we want you to be one of those people as well so come visit us here at River Club.
Meredith: Yeah, so take Christa's advice. Come down here and join us for your next round. Christa, thanks so much for having us out.
Meredith: It's a beautiful day to do this.
Christa: Perfect South Carolina day, isn't it?
Meredith: Awesome, it's perfect.
Christa: That's why we moved here.
Meredith: Yes. Come down, join us.
Christa: That's right.
