<p>But if you’ve got limited opportunities to play golf along South Carolina’s Grand Strand, these five need to be on your proverbial bucket list. In their own special way, they each bring something incredibly special to the table.</p>

Look no further than everything that Pine Lakes Country Club ushered in for Myrtle Beach golf. The Granddaddy, which opened in 1927, has been equally appreciative of its past and proactive enough to remain a part of the future.</p>

<p>Through some ownership changes and a redesign, what has stayed true to form is everything Pine Lakes has meant to the game here. After all, it all started on this property.</p>

<p><u><a href="https://www.mbn.com/courses/tidewater-golf-club-plantation"><strong>TIDEWATER GOLF CLUB</strong></a></u><br>By the time players reach the Par 3 No. 12 at Tidewater, they better have gotten used to re-setting their dropped jaws. Tidewater’s second-half return to the Cherry Grove inlet is something you’d see featured on a Sunday PGA TOUR event.</p>

<p>And it’s only the tip of the iceberg.</p>

<p>From start to finish, Tidewater is an architect’s dream canvas. Some of its holes run along the inlet. Others back up to the Intracoastal Waterway. Between those lie fascinating tree lines, unsuspecting forced carries and a variety of green complexes that never seem to repeat.</p>

<p><u><a href="https://www.mbn.com/courses/the-dunes-golf-and-beach-club"><strong>DUNES GOLF &amp; BEACH CLUB</strong></a></u><br>You don’t have to bite off the 7,400+ yards of Dunes Club’s champion tees to get the full experience of a course that has for nearly 75 years carried itself in the upper echelon of Myrtle Beach golf.</p>

<p>Dunes, the second-oldest course in the area, was famously re-designed by Rees Jones after his father, Robert Trent Jones, led the original charge in the 1940s. The extended efforts have paid off in memories galore for a relatively limited group of non-members who get to tee it up here.</p>

<p>Nothing was left to chance, and it’s easy to see why professional events have called this place home over the years.&nbsp;</p>

<p><u><a href="https://www.mbn.com/courses/grande-dunes"><strong>GRANDE DUNES RESORT COURSE</strong></a></u><br>Even before the recent renovations that made this course that much better, Grande Dunes was in the short list of Myrtle Beach-area tracks that was deserving of whatever greens fees were being charged that day.</p>

<p>A course that never disappoints, the layout is as tough or soft as you want it to be via a large selection of tee boxes. That’s crucial, because the scenery should be coveted and adored, not overshadowed by a round too difficult to finish.&nbsp;</p>

<p>With super-wide fairways, rolling terrain stemming from the bluffs high atop the Intracoastal Waterway and excellent sight lines, Grande Dunes is panoramic shot after panoramic shot. <p><u><a href="https://www.mbn.com/courses/caledonia-golf-and-fish-club"><strong>CALEDONIA GOLF &amp; FISH CLUB</strong></a></u><br>Mike Strantz was already known to the Myrtle Beach golf market before his first solo design at Caledonia opened for business in January of 1994. But what he did at Caledonia was magical.</p>
</div>

<p>Among those courses we see in the national top-100 lists each year, Caledonia is arguably one of the most accessible and affordable.</p>

<p>As much performance art as it is golf, Caledonia is a study in perfectly framed hole after perfectly framed hole. No detail was left to chance right on through the forced carry into the green and back to the historic clubhouse on No. 18. Every hole is another opportunity to appreciate this game and document it with a photo you’ll cherish for years to come.</p>
