<p>And while we certainly haven’t read them all, the self-help advice literature all seems to have a common theme.</p>

<p>Bite off more than you can chew too early, and potential gains are stopped dead in their tracks. Don’t try to climb the latter, and growth is minimized. Easy enough, right? The end isn’t always the same, but the similarities with the means are.</p>

<p>We took that same approach to help players make their own necessary steps to crafting a better game. If you’re looking to build up a rhythm while staying in or around Myrtle Beach city limits, this three-course combination might just serve up exactly the type of progress you need.</p>

<p><strong>GETTING WARMED UP</strong><br>There aren’t many more scenic finishes than <u><a href="https://www.mbn.com/courses/myrtlewood-golf-club-palmetto">Myrtlewood Golf Club Palmetto course</a></u>. There, on the final 400 or so yards, you’re going to play opposite of the flow of the Intracoastal Waterway. But while your mind starts to drift to wondering what owning one of the houses on the other side would be like, it starts to hit you how playable this track was.</p>

<p>The 6,516 yards from the white tees is relatively easy to navigate, as the openness of the fairways and clean lines of sight throughout take any of guesswork out of the equation.</p>

<p>All of that makes it the perfect course to hit the ball over and over again and get a feel for the clubs in your hand. If you’re hitting it even somewhat straight here, your confidence is going to increase hole after hole after hole. <em>(Myrtlewood Palmetto 18th hole top photo)</em></p>

<p><strong>BEGINNING TO PUSH YOURSELF</strong><br>The newly unveiled renovations at <u><a href="https://www.mbn.com/courses/grande-dunes">Grande Dunes Resort Course</a></u> already had us foaming at the mouth some. With the greens being pushed back to their original dimensions and the bunkers joining the ranks of some tour-quality courses, getting onto those putting surfaces has never been better.</p>

<p>But Grand Dunes ensures that how you do it &#8211; and what you do once you get there &#8211; is completely up to you. This banger-friendly course can be somewhat distracting with is near-constant views of the Intracoastal Waterway.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Where this course now divides the pretenders from the contenders, though, is by seeing who is paying attention to pin locations and who can execute attacking them. After all, many of those even larger greens are now ripe for three putts. <em>(Grande Dunes 10th hole pictured right)</em></p>

<p><strong>THE FINAL EXAM</strong><br><u><a href="https://www.mbn.com/courses/prestwick-country-club">Prestwick Country Club</a></u> isn’t for the faint of heart. This Pete and P.B. Dye joint venture puts a premium on top-notch play from start to finish. It’s bedrock philosophy &#8211; or at least what should be at the forefront of you mind &#8211; is that one bad shot can lead to two or three in an hurry.</p>

<p>The white tees at Prestwick chime in at a cool 6,347 yards, and those not sure if they are ready can easily scale back to the 5,863 greens without feeling much shame. However, if a test is what you’re after, Prestwick is the place in central Myrtle Beach most likely to deliver.</p>

<p>The wrinkles build toward the end of each nine, and taking limited chances is a prevailing M.O. for tackling the course as a whole without losing the entire battle.</p>
