<p>Finding the right two courses for a 36-hole day along South Carolina’s Grand Strand isn’t as easy as opening the web sites and booking.</p>

Two of our local experts, Ian Guerin and Chris King, dove into this topic to discuss where and when to pull off the double-up, even providing a few tips to help make it a more memorable experience for you and your crew.</p>

<p><strong>IAN GUERIN:</strong> Chris, I think when most outsiders plan on a 36-hole day in Myrtle Beach, their minds instantly gravitate toward some of our mega complexes. Myrtle Beach National, Legends Golf and Barefoot Resort, give players at least three tracks sharing a clubhouse. It takes any travel time between rounds out of the equation, sure. But I also don’t think players need to limit themselves to the bigger properties. For your money, which separate locales are you pairing?</p>

That&#8217;s 36 holes of great golf on two layouts that always deliver. <p><strong>IG:</strong> Every time we do one of these, I ask myself why I let you go first, and this is another prime example. On top of River Club and Willbrook being among my favorites individually, you hit the nail on the&nbsp;head&nbsp;when it comes to packaging them together. That type of proximity is huge, especially when you’re considering you’re going to need a food/beverage pit stop between rounds. But since you took the best on the south end, I’ll drop my favorite and arguably most playable inland duo. <u><a href="https://www.mbn.com/courses/burning-ridge-golf-club">Burning Ridge Golf Club</a></u>&nbsp;<em>(pictured right)</em> as a morning round gets you stretched and ready, and then the short jump over to Myrtle Beach National’s <a href="https://www.mbn.com/courses/myrtle-beach-national-southcreek">SouthCreek</a> gives you a different feel in the afternoon. And I’ll see your 4-mile distance and raise you a mere 3.3.</p>

<p><strong>CK:</strong> Well, if you want to turn this into a distance measuring contest, I&#8217;m taking my group to <u><a href="https://www.mbn.com/courses/pawleys-plantation">Pawleys Plantation</a></u> &#8211; I love the back nine and the opportunity to play along the marsh &#8211; in the morning, and then I&#8217;ll make the 1.8-mile jaunt to <u><a href="https://www.mbn.com/courses/founders-club">Founders Club</a></u> in the afternoon! The chances of shooting a career-best round on those two beasts is low, but both are outstanding. After finishing up, I&#8217;d go to <u><a href="https://www.rustictable.com/">Rustic Table</a></u> for dinner and a drink to soothe my likely battered ego. <em>(Founders Club pictured right)</em></p>

<p><strong>IG:</strong> I’ll readily admit I’m not a huge 36-hole guy. But on the rare instances when I do it, I actually have to load up before I tee off in the morning. So I’ll propose this trifecta: The Southern Skillet from <u><a href="https://blueberrysgrill.com/">Blueberry’s Grill</a></u> (7931 N Kings Highway, Myrtle Beach), then the 8-minute (4.3 miles) drive to the newly renovated <u><a href="https://www.mbn.com/courses/arcadian-shores">Arcadian Shores Golf Club</a></u> for your first 18, then a quick 7-minute jaunt (3.4 miles back down to the <u><a href="https://www.mbn.com/courses/grande-dunes">Grande Dunes Resort Course</a></u> &#8211; a course that also just improved itself with drool-worthy greens and bunker renovations &#8211; for the second 18. The response you&#8217;re looking for is &#8220;Ian, you are a genius.”</p>
