<p>More importantly, they’re pairing their distance with a deft touch. The latter couldn’t be more important for those of us trying to sneak a few strokes off the card. We can’t traverse distance like that can. But what we can imitate from the pros is avoiding the major trouble off the tee.</p>

<p>There’s no better way to accomplish that than leaving the driver in the bag on these five Myrtle Beach golf holes that fool players into reaching for the norm.</p>

<p><strong><a href="https://www.mbn.com/course/international-golf-club">INTERNATIONAL CLUB</a>, NO. 2</strong><br>The mistake made with the big dog here is all about angling and how great the fairway grass is. You see, the unprotected dogleg ushers too many players into a sense of false confidence, as they believe they can shave off much of the distance on the right-hand turn. The issue, however, is that if you really get ahold of one, you can drive it right on through the fairway and into the awaiting water deep up the left-hand side. <p><strong><a href="https://www.mbn.com/course/arrowhead-country-club">ARROWHEAD COUNTRY CLUB</a>, CYPRESS NO. 7</strong><br>The hole itself is 363 yards from the whites. The workable fairway, though, is somewhere in the neighborhood of 250 yards. That’s in large part thanks to just enough of a small tree line that signals the slight dogleg right into a green. That last part requires some pin-point accuracy. And while you might fall short of the desired target area, it’s much better than doinking off the tree and into the water or skirting beyond the cart path that runs up the left side of the hole.</p>

<p><strong><a href="https://www.mbn.com/course/myrtle-beach-national-kings-north">KING’S NORTH</a>, NO. 18</strong><br>From the tee box, what appears to look like a gazillion sand traps await. If you play your cards wrong, it’ll actually feel like more. The Palmer Group went a little nuts with the final hole at Arnie’s crown jewel in Myrtle Beach, placing nearly as much sand and grass into the final 367 yards. The fairway isn’t tiny by any means, but barring a 300-yard poke dead center to the secondary fairway, trouble is everywhere. And if you hit one trap, you’re likely going to find another. Just avoid it.</p>

<p><strong><a href="https://www.mbn.com/course/tradition-golf-club">TRADITION GOLF CLUB</a>, NO. 18</strong><br>After 17 other holes, the last one of the day isn’t often the place to try to muscle up and pray for a 325-yard drive. That’s what it would take to completely fly the massive waste bunker that plays three quarters of the way up the left-hand side of the fairway and is anything but designed in a straight line. Instead, play an easy five-wood into the 225 range and then attempt a long iron into the absolutely huge green that awaits from less than 190 yards.</p>

<p><strong><a href="https://www.mbn.com/course/grande-dunes">GRANDE DUNES RESORT CLUB</a>, NO. 6</strong><br>We’d love to introduce you to three of this hole’s best friends without making it a personal introduction. In order to do that, you need to avoid them like the plague. From all of 305 yards from the whites, those fairway bunkers are everything. The two on the left, especially, swallow up otherwise great tee shots and then help bring the two green-side bunkers into play. The cuts of each of them equate to magnets to your drive, giving you all the more reason to choose precision over power.</p>
