We love 18 holes on a 70-degree day. Nothing better.
Sometimes, that’s just not feasible.
Maybe it’s an early pickup day at school or there’s an early afternoon zoom or you’re just way too tired from the drive in the day before. Scrapping your normal window doesn’t mean you have to scrap the entire thought.
Several courses have made nine holes more accessible than others without breaking the bank. The old-school thinking of “discounting” the full 18 isn’t the norm anymore. And with more and more players favoring the quicker in and out, it makes sense why some are just better at it.
For our 2 hours, these are our best bets.

Closing the Woodland 9 as part of the long-time 27-hole venue wasn’t ideal for those who love it. But in Meadows and Highlands, the remaining holes give players what they want in term of driving chances and cool approach shots. Oh, and did we mention water? This is among the most challenging nine-hole options on this list. (top photo)

The Waterway, Lakes and Cypress 9s here are all top-notch. They’ve helped make what is essentially a golf course cut out of a neighborhood (not vice versa) seem invaluable to its regulars. There isn’t a bad hole at Arrowhead. And, yet, the clubhouse doesn’t drop the hammer on those just wanting nine holes.

What we absolutely love about the thought of nine holes at Tradition is that you’re going to get the same taste of everything Ron Garl threw at this course no matter which side you play. The front has an island green on the Par-4 No. 7, while the back counters with the Par-3 No. 15. Add in a couple forced carries on both sides and it’s there for the taking.
WILD WING, HUMMINGBIRD COURSE 
Hummingbird is a popular add-on for folks already playing out the Avocet 18. But for those looking to knock out a quick nine, there may not be a better option locally. A nice mix between a full 9-hole and an executive, the Par 34/35 track gives you just enough length on the six holes that aren’t Par 3s.

Whether you’re placed on (or pick) the Championship 9 or Open 9, World Tour is going to pump your head full of memories from some of the biggest Sundays the sport has ever known. There’s no short-changing going on at either side, meaning that’s all it’s going to take to whet your golfing whistle.(pictured right)
